Are you a fan of food holidays? If so, be sure to add “Bratsgiving” to your calendar on August 16. This week I celebrated with Johnsonville when their mobile Big Taste Grill came to Kansas City. If you missed the fun, here’s a recap of the meat-filled festivities.
Johnsonville kicked off Bratsgiving in a big way when they rolled up to the Linwood Center YMCA with their Big Taste Grill. The 65-foot-long mobile meat wagon carries a 1/2 ton of brats and grills up to 750 brats at a time! But the best part of the Big Taste Grill is that it tours the country, teaming up with local non-profits to raise money for their cause. Johsonville’s Kansas City stop was no different as the Big Taste Grill helped raise money to rebuild the Linwood Center YMCA.
In addition to free brats, the crowd enjoyed snacks, outdoor games and an appearance from Carl, the Great Bratsgiver. (Think of Carl as the meat-slinging mascot of Bratsgiving.)
If you missed this year’s Bratsgiving festivities, you can still celebrate year round with Johnsonville – no 65-foot grill or meat mascot necessary. Just pick up some Johnsonville brats – plus buns and your favorite toppings – and throw your own Bratsgiving. If you typically go for Johnsonville’s Original Brats, switch it up flavors like Firecracker, Beer’n Brats, Cheddar, Grilling Chorizo, Cheddar Cheese & Bacon, Hatch Chili or Buffalo Bleu.
I’m a fan of Johnsonville’s Firecracker Brats because I prefer some heat in my meat! What are your favorite brat flavors? Tell me about it in the comment section below.
