Fall is here and that means three things: leaves, lattes and restaurant menus are changing. Check out this seasonal to-do list for all things fall food and drink related.
1. Stuff your pie hole at The Upper Crust.
Nothing signals fall quite like that first taste of pumpkin pie. Visit The Upper Crust in Overland Park for a taste of all their new seasonal flavors, including caramel apple, hot oatmeal and maple pumpkin – served by the slice or as whole pies. Be sure to check out Third Fridays for “Pie Flight Night” when the bakery offers three sample size slices of pie for $7.

2. Go apple picking at Cider Hill Family Orchard.
Pass up the pumpkin patch (that’s so last year). This fall is all about the apple orchard. Cider Hill Family Orchard provides tons of family fun – whether it’s apple picking among 38-acres of apple trees, picnicking along the property, snagging some hot apple cider donuts or fresh kettle corn, or perusing the country store. And, yes, there’s even a pumpkin patch if you’re into that.

3. Sip and dip at KC Bier Company
Enjoy one last prost on the patio before cold weather hits. KC Bier boasts a dog-friendly outdoor bier garden with views of the Waldo Trolley Track – in addition to German-style brews, sausages, breads and small plates. Check out the breweries seasonal list, including malty lagers and an Oktoberfest-inspired beer.

4. Swap your PSL for a locally-made latte.
Plenty of Kansas City coffee shops are serving seasonal coffee drinks that are way better than Starbucks version. I suggest the “Brinkley” from Goat Hill Coffee & Soda – a 6 oz. latte flavored with cinnamon, ginger and clove syrup, rimmed with ginger sugar and topped with a candied orange.

And for those seeking something closer to the PSL…
Try City Market Coffee’s Pumpkin Pie Latte, made with real pumpkin and homemade syrup. Tastes like Thanksgiving in your mouth, trust me.
