5 Ways To Celebrate National Pumpkin Day

Andre's Confiserie Suisse Pumpkin Desserts
National Pumpkin Day is October 26 (as if we needed a reason to celebrate). From sweet and savory treats to drinks, here are five Kansas City spots to get your gourd on.

1. Andre’s Confiserie Suisse, South Plaza
Andre's Chocolate Kansas City
Andre’s offers a few options when it comes to celebrating National Pumpkin Day. Start small with the pumpkin macarons ($1.80), or go big by ordering an entire Pumpkin Glacier ($45) – a six-layer cake made with pecan meringue and frozen pumpkin cream. Also available to order: the Pumpkin Mousse Torte ($28), made with yellow cake and pumpkin mousse.

2. Parisi Artisan Coffee, Leawood

I completely support the marriage of pumpkin and coffee, especially when it’s served from Parisi. Begin the day with the Pumpkin Caramel Latte ($3.80) and a streusel-topped Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin ($3.50), or end it on a decadent note with the Pumpkin Caramel Affogato ($4.05).

3. Stock Hill, South Plaza
Stock Hill Pumpkin Tortelli
Over at Stock Hill, Chef de Cuisine Mark Dandurand proves pumpkin isn’t just for PSLs. Enter the Pumpkin Tortelli, debuting just in time for the holiday. The new appetizer features pumpkin-stuffed tortelli pasta in a pool of brown butter and pepita crème, topped with fried sage and grano padanoIf. Good gourd…it’s good.

Pumpkin Protein Balls at t. Loft
If you’re looking for a healthier way to celebrate National Pumpkin Day, head to t.Loft. The cafe’s selection of protein-packed Pumpkin Pie Balls ($2) and gluten-free Pumpkin Muffins will satisfy your sweet tooth, sans the extra calories.

5. Meshuggah Bagels, Midtown
Meshuggah Pumpkin Pie Bagel
When bagels and pumpkin collide, the result is a delicious masterpiece. Case in point: Meshuggah’s new Pumpkin Pie schmear, available now through Thanksgiving. Order like a pro and try it alongside the Cinnamon Raisin bagel ($4.25) for the ultimate one-two fall flavor punch.
